Unnamed adult cohort ledger — implementation design

Birth-linked adults on delayed founder, reoccupation, household-relocation and evacuation jobs now die at 85 at the job's recorded route cell. Outpost transfer version two retains departure totals and death history; birth-ledger version eleven closes the matching adult move. Only survivors arrive, and a final resident death terminates the trip with remaining goods lost at that hex. Earlier saves migrate with empty deaths and no invented birth dates. The remaining adult-lifecycle gap is age-unknown legacy cohorts and the broader long-run demographic balance. The living world design is the primary design entry point.

New founder, reoccupation, household-relocation and evacuation reviews reject a selected age-known civilian whose 85th birthday falls within the planned trip and possible return, with camp assembly included. Age-unknown workers are still selected first. The transfer repeats the gate before debiting people. A trip delayed after departure now follows the version-two outpost transfer and version-eleven birth death transition above. The living world design is the primary design entry point.

An age-known adult on a finite waystation household journey dies at 85 at the modelled route hex during their birth community's village check. The active party loses one resident and worker; the departure remains historical and only survivors reach the receiving community or waystation. Migration-transfer version three retains leg, position and pre-loss counts, and birth-ledger version eleven closes the same travel move and adult mortality. Versions two and nine migrate without a fabricated death. This covers leaving, arriving and turned-back household journeys; age-unknown legacy adults remain open. The living world design remains the primary design entry point.

The age-known militia death transition now includes the linked field-supply hold. A death at 85 records the exact held hex and paid carrier, ends the rendezvous and turns undelivered cargo home; surviving soldiers resume their prior order, and a final death closes the unit without claiming a return. Military old-age receipt version eight adds the nullable supply snapshot, with neutral migration from version seven. Birth-linked mortality now covers current military duties; age-unknown legacy adults and long-term demographic balance remain open. The living world design remains the primary design entry point.

The age-known militia death transition now covers consented allied tower watches and professional relief campaigns as well as owned watches, guards, patrols and convoy escorts. A delayed relief death ends paid service, preserves the accepted troop count and actual route, and sends survivors home without further combat. The final soldier's death closes the agreement without a false return; hosted food already delivered stays spent and unused food returns when host storage permits. Version-seven military old-age receipts add a nullable campaign snapshot to earlier route, escort and garrison history. Age-unknown legacy adults remain open. The living world design remains the primary design entry point.

One-, two-, seven- and fourteen-day and standing watches at owned local and retained-outpost fortifications now close an age-known soldier at 85 on the outward march, at the post or during physical return. A version-six military receipt retains the actual route cell and a self-contained post and outpost-host snapshot. Surviving soldiers and paid provisions stay on the same watch. Funded finite watches retain their original allowance and paid daily receipts. Standing watches retain their cumulative ceiling and lifetime spending, with the death snapshot's collection count reconciling meals older than the thirty retained receipts. Outpost arrival authorization stays at its original size: a death before arrival reduces the actual refill, while a later death leaves paid host food intact. Future collections follow the smaller troop count. The version-eight transition above covers linked field-supply duty.

The age-85 militia transition now also covers an active NPC or peer convoy escort and its detached return. The death receipt records the actual hex and escort assignment; the caravan keeps its goods and consent, while later protection uses only surviving soldiers. Peer consent remains the historical accepted count, reconciled against recorded losses. The version-eight transition above covers linked field-supply mortality.

The age-85 militia transition now covers ready, basic training, reinforcement, refitting and fitted professional service at home, plus unaccompanied patrols, local corridor guards and convoy escorts, including their return walks. One linked resident and soldier leave; civilian labor stays unchanged. Veteran/recruit training custody, unused wage escrow, fitted equipment and archer quiver entries update with the same version-five death receipt. Field deaths retain the actual route cell; guard deaths also retain a duty snapshot and make an understrength force withdraw physically. The version-eight transition above now coordinates those deaths.

The military review rejects new training, funded service and deployments whose planned finish reaches a recorded soldier's age-85 timestamp. Standing-watch food increases check the funded horizon, and Defense shows the earliest date. This protects new orders but cannot end an existing or delayed assignment; deaths in those states still require coordinated roster, equipment, payroll and hosted-agreement transitions.

The M2/M7 population system gives each community-born child a birth, journey and maturation receipt. Version nine tracks a newly matured civilian through resident transfers, the finite waystation's household journeys, founding-household adoption, independent careers and repeatable resident membership. The same aggregate laborBase also contains unnamed founding adults and migrants. Recruitment and reinforcement now link selected age-known adults to an exact militia unit and durable service receipt. Survivors return to civilian custody on cancellation or demobilization, while fatal contact closes their birth receipt; soldier ages now advance in the owner projection on completed village checks, and known adults aged 85 or more cannot enlist; natural old-age death in a linked field-supply hold is now implemented. A present age-known civilian now dies at the local age-85 check with one population/worker debit and an exact mortality receipt. A waystation adult born under this policy uses their birth community's daily check to remove one resident and worker from the finite source; version-eight adults migrate with no invented death. A version-three save likewise closes already matured receipts as unresolved because their intervening actions cannot be reconstructed. This design extends the primary living world design; it distinguishes implemented physical and named custody from the other identity and natural-death rules still to build.

Accounting invariant

Treat settlement population and laborBase as authoritative totals. The new ledger must reconcile with them after every transition rather than grant a second person or worker. At each settlement and journey, partition unnamed civilian adults into age-known cohorts and age-unknown legacy adults. Named household members, resident players and independent characters have separate, explicitly linked custody; mobilized community-born soldiers have exact identity links, while age-unknown soldiers remain aggregate. A child can become exactly one civilian adult; an adult can occupy exactly one of civilian, traveling, soldier, named, member, independent, waystation or dead custody. Transfers preserve the person's birth identity and age. If a legacy save cannot establish an adult's age, mark it unknown; do not invent a birthday or retrospective death.

For any operation that selects an adult from an aggregate pool, take age-unknown adults first, then age-known adults in stable birth order. Resident and waystation transfers, founding-household adoption, resident membership and independent-career claims now persist exact selected birth keys; military enlistment now links known adults to a unit and a lasting service record. Natural old-age death for age-unknown legacy civilians remains open; other currently supported age-known military duties, present civilians and waystation adults now die at the first applicable daily check at age 85. Named roles use the selected adult's actual age and birth date when known; anonymous adults retain the age-24 model. Household and resident-member deaths remove population exactly once and close the linked birth receipt; a wayfarer's death closes the receipt after the source population was already debited at claim. Leaving membership returns the same birth key to civilian custody, with chronological membership history retained across later physical journeys and invitations. Demobilization must return surviving linked adults to civilian custody without granting population. Any source of new unnamed adults, including waystation arrival, must enter the same partition.

Transitions to wire before enabling natural death

TransitionExisting authorityRequired receipt or link
Child maturitycommunity-births.advanceImplemented: move the birth key to local civilian custody when laborBase rises.
Founder, relocation, evacuation, recall and reoccupationoutposts.transfer and its arrival pathsImplemented: select adult birth keys for worker places after age-unknown civilians; carry the same keys through arrival or return.
Hardship departure and waystation arrivalpopulation.advanceImplemented: exact selected birth keys travel on the household and settle at the finite source.
Waystation immigrationpopulation.advanceImplemented: select age-known workers after anonymous workers, move exact keys to the receiving community or return them physically when admission fails.
Recruit, reinforce, cancellation, demobilization and combat casualtiesmilitary and field-combatImplemented custody: link selected known civilians to the unit and service receipt; cancellation and demobilization return survivors, while combat closes casualty identities. Age-85 death is implemented for home duty, patrols, guards, escorts, owned and allied watches, relief campaigns and linked field-supply holds.
Adult adoption, resident membership and independent careerhousehold-adoption, community-membership, careersImplemented for age-known new selections: each links the exact birth key and true age to the resulting character. Resident departure restores civilian custody and retains a repeatable membership history; named deaths close their links. Older saves retain unknown-age or unresolved records without invented identities.
Natural old agecommunity-births.advance after other household transitionsImplemented for present age-known civilians and waystation adults: remove one resident and worker at the first applicable age-85 check and record where the death occurred. Local assignments reconcile; the finite waystation source loses its own resident and worker. Legacy age-unknown civilians remain separate work; outpost resident travelers are implemented above; birth-linked military duties and finite waystation household travel are implemented above.

Save and rollout rules

The version-eleven birth ledger and version-three migration ledger migrate older saves without invented adult movements, deaths or named links. Version-two personal careers and memberships migrate to version three with null birth links; version-seven birth ledgers gain empty military service histories. Restore checks birth keys, physical transfer lists, chronology, location, finite source, civilian worker capacity, adoption and wayfarer links, and repeated resident-member periods, including journeys mid-route and completed household receipts. Command-funded tests cover evacuation, physical return, hardship travel, turnback, adoption, career identity, membership join–leave–rejoin, later travel, death, migration and forged-link rejection. Unit and casualty validation now cross-check exact active and historical service; resolve legacy-age mortality before claiming complete adult mortality across every custody. Run the existing long City stewardship and three-outpost routes to measure effects on food, labor and authority. Keep the broader M0–M8 goal open until those effects and regional demographic balance are playable.
